About David Balfour Massage
David Balfour is a Registered Massage Therapist and graduate of Mount Royal University's 2200-hour massage therapy program who practices in Capitol Hill, NW Calgary. As a legally blind therapist, he has developed refined palpation skills and takes a thorough, assessment-based approach to each client. Every session begins with detailed intake and conversation, and when appropriate includes targeted assessment to understand movement patterns and tissue restrictions; treatment is then tailored to address the client's specific goals and concerns. David offers therapeutic relaxation, deep tissue, cupping, RAPID NeuroFascial Reset, and kinetic (movement-based) massage, and commonly treats neck and shoulder pain, headaches, back pain, hip and glute pain, carpal tunnel and other tendonitis issues, strains and sprains, reduced range of motion, knee and foot conditions, and stress-related issues. He works alongside Trooper, his black lab guide dog, who is calm and professional in the treatment space and contributes to a welcoming atmosphere. Beyond clinical practice, David also works as a Teaching Assistant at Mount Royal University, supporting students in musculoskeletal courses, massage techniques, and the student practicum clinic. Treatment plans are explained clearly before sessions begin, and clients are encouraged to provide feedback throughout, ensuring a collaborative, client-centred care approach.
